Our Story
The Karalee Community Kindergarten is a not for profit centre affiliated with C&K.
Our kindy began in 1992 working out of the Community Hall next door as families in the community worked together to get our kindy it's own home.
In March 1998, we moved into our current building and have spent the following years adding to our beautiful kindergarten.
We are managed by a committee of parent volunteers who are elected at our Annual General Meeting held in February each year.
We receive funding from the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme and the rest of our running costs are made up by fees and fundraising.
Our 2022 fees are $27.00/day.
New Queensland Government funding in 2023, means fees will be cheaper for all our families. Subsidies are available for families on Health Care Cards, Pension Cards, Department of Veteran Affairs cards and families who identify as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander.

Our Philosophy
Our Kindy believes strongly in the uniqueness of each family and each child. We encourage parents to work together with teachers to ensure that the kindergarten program provides opportunities for children to extend their existing knowledge and skills and development attributes such as perseverance, resilience and curiosity that are critical to learning.
Opportunities for learning will be equitable, and each child’s contribution will be valued, irrespective of gender, disability, ethnicity or background. We aim to provide a play-based program that enable children to immerse themselves in meaningful learning experiences that are related to their individual needs, interests and abilities.
Children are encouraged to be active participants in our program. We value their ideas, and enable them to take ownership of their learning. We interact purposely with the children, offering support and guidance when required. We also aim to help children to expand their thinking, challenge themselves and extend their interest by introducing them to other interests, and, by encouraging them to explore other alternatives and possibilities.
As well as providing for incidental spontaneous and flexible teaching moments, we also imbed intentional teaching experiences into each day, through the planning and organising of the physical environment, through our interactions with the children within the context of play, and during the real life conversations, routines and transitions.
Children will have the opportunity to make choices, develop their own ideas and work at their own pace. Teachers will be responsive to their ideas and initiatives, allowing time and space for exploration and research. They will establish warm and affectionate bonds and attachments with children, by being available, accessible and approachable. We will cultivate a love of learning and celebrate creativity. Our aim is to help children become competent learners and communicators.
Our Kindy aims to incorporate sound environmental policies by implementation of sustainable practices within the Kindy environment.
What our parents say
An amazing place with the best educators ever! Highly recommend it. My teenagers still talk about their kindy days!
Bec Wilson
Karalee community kindergarten is an amazing Kindy. It has large, open outdoor spaces for the kids to run and play and a newly refurbished interior. Plenty of fun and excitement to be had, created by the most wonderful of teachers as well.

Our experience with C&K Karalee has been nothing short of wonderful. This isn’t just a kindergarten, it is a community. Our family has made lifelong friendships, bonds & memories we cherish everyday here. Karen and Karyn create a nurturing wonderland for little minds to grow and learn and both my children (and myself) have loved every minute of kindy with them. I think I could write a million things to say how wonderful the kindy is! They will always be in our hearts.
